community here in Aotearoa. We know the Athletes who play in

Eligibility Criteria
Age Requirement
Athletes must be 18 or younger in the year of the tournament.
ie. Born 2007-2009. Cannot be turning 19 in 2025.
Eligibility Policy
Athletes who Identify as MAORI, SAMOAN, or PASIFIKA must
be able to whakapapa or verify their heritage. Athletes who do
not identify as Maori, Samoan or Pasifika and have an
association with NZ are eligible for the AOTEAROA Team.
Athletes who have been whangai (or adopted) may be
considered for the heritage of their upbringing. In such
circumstances, or for eligibility not catered for above, an
request for consideration to the Competition Committee can
be made.
2024 School Girls Battle of the Bridge; Auckland South v Auckland North, EFKS Church Ōtara.
Why?
It is time that our volleyball community looks for better
opportunities here in NZ and abroad. Our best talent is limited
by whats on offer, and a large number of our most talented
athletes don’t have $4k-$10k to pay for the National Team Trips.
We believe we can create a better experience, provide the same
standard of Coaching, if not better, offer a more inclusive
environment. It is our hope that Athletes and Staff will grow and
learn from this experience. Many lessons learnt will be
transferable into other areas of life.

KIWI CUP TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
24-27 Sep 2025, Manukau
Tēnā koutou katoa,
This year we are hosting an Open National Volleyball Tournament which is an alternative to the
VNZ NZ Club Champs. The Kiwi Cup will bring our Aotearoa Community together to embrace the
true spirit of competitive volleyball. No hidden agendas, no politics, less restrictions! This
tournament will remove many of the barriers which prevent clubs and teams from entering
Zone Qualification and the traditional VNZ Club Champs tournament. Participants do not need
to be VNZ Registered, teams do not need to be affiliated to a Regional Association, and teams
do not have to play in any regional or zone competition to be eligible to enter the Kiwi Cup. Also
transfers are not required for players to join a team who normally play in other clubs.
We know there are 40-50 organised teams from the Auckland, Bay of Plenty and Waikato who
play Zone Competitions but they do not attend VNZ NZ Club Champs. There will be a number of
teams across Aotearoa who could be interested in attending an event without the need to play
all winter in a qualification process. We believe this is the ideal alternative for an end of season
tournament as teams do not have to; 1) qualify, 2) have eligible players, 3) pay as much.
Please find below the initial information about the tournament and the link to express your
interest and receive the Registration Pack.
DATES / VENUE
24-27 September 2025 (week 1 of the Term 3 Holidays)
Pullman Arena, Papakura will be used for all matches from Wed 24th-Fri 26th of Sep.
Ōtara Pool & Leisure & Brewster Leisure Centre (Papatoetoe) will host the Play-offs & Finals on
Sat 27th Sep.
SOCIAL (18+)
Playaz Volleyball Club will be hosting the Social Saturday 10pm-3am (Venue TBC likely
Papatoetoe)
TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE
As it is an open entry event the seedings and pools will never be perfect. The format is designed
to allow teams to progress to the best possible finishing result for their ability and to spread
teams from the same region across as many pools as possible. The tournament structure across
the 4 playing dates will have grading matches (Day 1-2), cross-overs/semis. (Day 2-3), and play-
offs/finals (Day 4).
COSTS
Entry Fee is $900 per team. A $200 Late Entry Fee will apply to all teams who enter after the
15th of August.
ENTRY PROCESS & ALLOCATION
Entries will be open from the FRIDAY 15th of APRIL and close 15th of August (or when capacity
is reached as per the below allocation). We are mindful of the logistical challenges of teams who
travel the furtherest. We will hold 10 entries per gender for teams based in the Southern &
Central Zone regions up until the 1st of July. After this date all entries will be on a first in, first
served basis.
REFEREE SUPPORT
All teams will be required to provide 1 competent Regional Level Qualified Ref. If a team cannot
provide a referee we will look to assist with the pool of capable referees available. To book a
referee the cost will be $250 for the tournament.
EXPRESSION OF INTEREST & REGISTRATION PACK
To express your interest in entering your team in the Kiwi Cup please complete the form by
